Field Trips
Here's a link to the TNA that organizes the summit, it is a site that can be very useful to you in many ways:
Article on a previous summit:
Here's an article in the SW magazine about our nursing students attending the summit:
There we all are in Nashville, far right. except for me who managed to get photographed with an entirely different school.
This trip counts for some clinical hours and you either get to leave early or miss a day. One year they made us write a brief paper on the summit. You are expected to meet with your representative while there.
(Ok, I know it's specific to Arizona, but the general principles apply)
You will have to get to SW at 4 am and the bus ride is four hours. A four hour bus ride equals lots of study time (or bring a pillow and sleep).
This is your chance to hear some of the issues facing nurses and healthcare in Tennessee and to represent your school. We always have a good representation. “Spending time at the Legislature is always an eye opening experience for students and nurses alike,” said Sharon Adkins, MSN, RN, executive director, Tennessee Nurses Association. “It is exciting to see their enthusiasm when
they realize the role they can play in policy“
