Foundations
I had to learn fluids and electrolytes at least three times because I didn't make an effort to make it stick the first time. But there are certain things you are going to see over and over and over again. Take time to learn them really well.
Some that come to mind:
- Hypo and hypervolemia
- decreased cardiac output
- signs and symptoms of infection
- drug classes
- fluid and electrolyte imbalances
- ABGs
- orthostatic hypotension
- fluid replacement
- shock
- insulin
- corticosteroids
- diuretics
- Blood administration
- Basic foundations procedures
At some point you have to start thinking in patterns and not in individual disease symptoms. Some things are going to be common in many disease processes.
